Mrs. Johnson

Mrs Walker
Croeso mawr i meithrin, Dosbarth Alyn. I am Mrs Johnson, and I am very much looking forward to being your child’s first teacher. Mrs Walker is our classroom assistant and will support the pupils with their learning. We hope our year together will be the perfect start to your time at Ysgol Sant Dunawd.
We aim to ensure that your child has a happy time in school, learning through fun play experiences. We support every child to develop their curiosity and exploration, whilst encouraging them to become independent resilient learners and build strong friendships.
In the Autumn term we spend lots of time getting to know your child and for them to become familiar with our classroom environment, both inside and outside. There will be plenty of opportunities for them to learn and play together ensuring that they know where everything is and how to use it. Ensuring your child feels a sense of ownership of their learning environment is essential as it is this that creates opportunities for them to begin making progress in all areas of learning right from their first few days with us.
Our INSPIRE Inquiries
Spring Term
Big Wide World
This half term we will be discovering where our class Gingerbread Man has escaped to. As he travels the world discovering new places, food and celebrations, we will compare the destinations to our own lives and homes. We will try lots of new food and join in with celebrations from different countries and as well as Santes Dwynwen and Shrove Tuesday here in Wales.
Read Write Inc
Your child will be learning to recognise letters and sounds before gradually progressing to blending sounds together to make words. Following this stage, pupils will then learn to recognise words and start to read whole sentences. It is important to note, that every pupil will progress at different times throughout the Foundation years.
